Physiotherapy plays an important role in your rehabilitation and there are specific exercises you need to follow in the post operative period.
BODYSYSTEM provided post-operative physiotherapy services for our patients following surgery. They have been working closely with us to establish specific post-operative protocols to return patients to their best possible function within specific time frames related to their surgery.
Post Hip Arthroscopy
Patients are seen by the physiotherapist in hospital prior to discharge and are given specific exercises to follow. A post operative appointment is arranged within the first two weeks. If required, further liaison with their usual treating physiotherapist can be provided.
Post Direct Anterior Approach Hip Replacement
Patients are seen by the physiotherapist in hospital the day of surgery. They will progress and monitor your movement and strength during your hospital stay.
On discharge from hospital, it is recommended that these exercises are continued at home until review at 6 weeks.
Not all patients require monitored follow-up physiotherapy after leaving hospital. Mr Pritchard will advise if this is indicated prior to discharge.
